Just trying to understand....what is so difficult about wanting to live?
Would like opinions on why or why not....let’s try and not attack the poster but instead giving reasons for or against...

Viejo, go and read about viruses and infectious diseases Read from real experts not our public health people who are all compromised or have an agenda

Doctors and epidemiologists who have done this their whole career and see what they say protocols on handling this should be
Educate yourself.

I am going to say many people don't wear a mask for medical reasons. Constitutional reasons. It does pretty much nothing to be honest.
Wearing a mask is unhealthy for you to begin with. Go do some research on that also...

Everything we are doing is accomplishing nothing in the end. sheltering in place, closing businesses, wear masks
All of it unproven, has no scientific data supporting any of it.. If you look at scientific data on what we should be doing you would see that
what the proven scientific protocols are, what the proven scientific data says, it says to do everything the opposite of what we are doing

We are going to kill more people the way we are doing it than just the Covid 19

Most of these masks are cheap & actually provide little to no protection. Some may have no money to buy them or find them as many are back ordered with delivery dates into July.

If masks are so ineffective then why does everyone in the medical field wear one:think2: You think these doctors and epidemiologists you speak of would not wear one when dealing with a patient that has Covid?

Go read up on that... For one they are wearing the correct masks to protect themselves and the patients
Two you are in a closed area with lots of people who are sick. Totally different than being out in public
Three wearing a mask is not healthy for you, especially for long periods of time Go do some research on that

You really need to go read up on infectious disease and virus protocol from real experts who actually deal with this on a daily basis their whole careers
Not our public health experts who are either compromised or have an agenda...

you do understand we need people to be exposed to this? Not the elderly and compromised, they need to be protected
You also understand how a virus works, right?
You also understand the sheltering at home does nothing but prolong this. It does not cause less people to get infected, it does not cause less deaths
When enough people have been exposed to it the virus has no more hosts to go to and pretty much dies
We are accomplishing nothing with what we are doing.

Are you willing to be one of those people that get infected? How about your kids? Do you welcome the virus into your home rather than shelter in place? We need as many people as we can to be exposed? Middlesex county only has 16k+ infected with a little over 1k dead right. I'll admit I do not know enough about viruses to debate with anyone but I am curious. You seem to have a lot of answers so can you please enlighten some of us.

I try to stay away from ad hominem attacks on this place but you, sir, are a COMPLETE IDIOT. It's people like you with your misguided views that are the reason the TrumpVirus is spiralling out of control in the USA.

Bacteria, hard to breathe, they get hot, and they provide no protection for me. Did I mention they get hot? I have no intention of walking around when it's 90+ with humidity with one of those on.

I should also mention a big part of the problem are the morally superior people that instead of addressing people's concerns, simply go right into a personal attack and call others selfish. Either that or they go into their stupid mantra of "you wear one for me and I'll wear one for you". Last I checked, that didn't exactly solve any issues.

VD, I have been wearing a mask in public, in stores anyhow, out of respect for my son and daughter-in-law and the desire to see my grandchildren. Going to see them next weekend for a 4th birthday party.

They said that's a must do, I won't lie to them.

My opinion on masks.

1) They're more about preventing the sick from spreading the illness than they are about preventing healthy people from getting sick. I'll elaborate on this in a moment
2) If I'm coughing or sneezing, I'll absolutely wear a mask if I went yet. Better yet however, I won't go out in those situations, especially nowadays
3) If you're healthy and wearing a mask and happen to be in the vicinity of the airborne virus, it can and does infect people through your eyes. So even if your face mask prevents you from breathing the virus, it's not good enough to prevent the virus from entering your body, you need air tight goggles as well. As far as protecting healthy people is concerned, a face mask is merely cosmetic with respect to this virus in many if not most environments
4) If you're around sick people, which you shouldn't be by choice, then I suppose the need to wear one increases exponentially, but so does the need to cover your eyes
5) If you live in a crowded urban area, the need to wear a mask also increases, as opposed to living in the suburbs or rural areas. Chances are some bozo is walking around coughing and sneezing

If a healthy person chooses not to wear a mask, that shouldn't bother anyone.

If a person is couching and sneezing and wailing away, that person should be wearing a mask or avoiding other people simply out of respect for other people

Make wise decisions, wash your hands, protect the higher risk demographics, and most of us can go on living our lives. We really have no alternative IMO

More anecdotal in nature, but worth noting

I deal with scores of medical professionals, have seen most of them throughout tax season, see my daughter at least once a week even when we're all busy.

Only one of them walked in with a mask and goggles, non of the rest wore anything. The one that did as been with me for 35 years and he's a rainmaker for me, I love the guy. He's the lead PA for a leading neurosurgeon. His boss, the neurosurgeon, didn't wear a mask when he came in.

In more recent weeks, the very few people coming into the office have been wearing masks, mostly out of respect I believe. Since the due date is July 15, we've put off making appointments until after the governor's lock-down orders expire. But I'm lucky, I don't need appointments to stay busy and make money.

I was against wearing a mask back in February...I listened to all the experts on what they had to say and read anything I could about the Virus...because of my age and the fact that I am over weight I decided to follow the rules set forth by Thailand....the weather here is hot and humid but everywhere I go it seems that over 95% here are wearing masks in public...the country took it seriously back in March and the numbers show...will continue to wear a mask until it is not required...

I have relatives that still live in South Jersey...hoping they do the same....my brother and sister are in their late 60s and I have a niece in her 30s...they say they are wearing masks and I hope they continue to wear them...I worry about my brother because he doesn’t like being told what to do just as some here...

I just hope that those in charge open gradually depending on the area that you are in....everyone should not be treated like those in large cities...shouldn’t be a crime to open up earlier than a large metropolitan city...

If they go into a store VD, they don't have a choice. I saw a guy the other day get told to leave the store because he didn't have a mask. It's a requirement.

VD, I think we agree on more issues than we disagree on my friend.

I have a question for you, hearing about how strict Thailand is on "crimes", what's the punishment for NOT wearing a mask? I'm guessing it's a whole lot worse than anywhere in the states

I'm also going to suggest that Asians in general are more socially adjusted to wearing masks, they've already been down this path a few times before and they tend to have more overcrowded urban areas than we do in the states

Dont know about the fines for not wearing a mask but the first three Thais that broke the curfew of 10pm were sentenced to three years in prison...that’s right, three years, not months...

Glad I don’t live in Thailand...3 years ...sheer ignorance

Anyone see Cuomo’s reaction when 66% of cases where from folks who were staying at home? Following orders!!

Hardly any from the homeless...guess their immune system is so much better??

Masks are not the answer.

Stop listening solely to those charging $5 a mask....:think2:

Wilie made all the valid points already w-thumbs!^
